Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I bought a T50 about 6 months ago and the light sensor isn't working. How can I replace it?
A: Resetting should help restore it, don't worry. Remove the batteries for a minute or two and that should reset it. Try new batteries; that might help.
Q: Can this be used for ducks? I have Perkins who share the coop with our chickens.
A: We have a few large chickens, and they have no problem going through the door. I think the ducks would be just fine. It's a great door by the way.
Q: Can anyone tell me how to set the evening closing? The first time I set the dial just past the sun, and it closed 45 minutes before dark.
A: You can set the evening closing by turning the potentiometer (test button) clockwise to the moon symbol and turning switches 1 and/or 2 in the drive on. Turning switch 1 on closes the door 30 minutes after sunset, and switch 2 closes it 60 minutes after sunset. Turning both switches on closes the door 90 minutes after sunset.
Q: Can you set the evening closure the same as the morning closure?
A: Of course, you can adjust the evening closure by turning the potentiometer located on the bottom right of the power unit (as seen in the instructions). It can be done without tools and is always accessible.
Q: How does this opener perform in sub-zero temperatures? Also, in snow and ice?
A: My thought is, as long as no water/moisture gets into the slots and mechanisms, there’s nothing to freeze. The metal will contract in the cold, so the tolerances will be slightly looser.
